A South Georgia man was killed in Thomas County while on the job in a farming accident on Friday.  According  to the Macon Telegraph, the man was crushed by cotton seeds after falling into the back of a trailer while the seeds were being poured into the trailer.

Thomas County sheriff’s investigator Pascal Autrey reported that the victim, 32-year-old Victor Chavez, was unloading cotton seeds from the trailer at the Boston Gin Company on Friday when the accident occurred.  According to Autrey, it took investigators between 15 and 20 minutes to find the victim.

The Sheriff’s office stresses that workers are to be reminded to review accident protocols to avoid accidents on the job.
